2017-2018 Chair & Co-Chair
November 1, 2018
TEC of Central Texas:
Please accept my sincere thank you for the opportunity to serve and represent our community for the past two years as chair and co-chair.
As our community celebrates its seventh year in Central Texas, it has been exciting to watch it grow and prosper. Preparations for our community’s 20th retreat are underway, and we recognize that as a member of this family of faith, you have played an important role and have quietly recruited and served hundreds of retreatants, team members and leadership. You are an example of a modern-day disciple. Know that through your example, you have undoubtedly guided many to their first Encounter with Christ. You have contributed to God’s plan of leading others to share and grow in their faith.
I am especially grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and can reflect on the many initiatives that will continue to be implemented. Prayerful discernment exercises to choose retreat team leadership, ALIVE Contribution Campaign, Community Life Ministry activities, Outreach Ministry activities and active participation in the National TEC Conference are examples of initiatives that will help our TEC center stay strong and grounded in the Holy Spirit. Website overhauls, a recent Catholic Spirit outreach article, enhanced communication initiatives, and implementation of financial sustainability measures will guide us for already scheduled retreats through the year 2025.
My relationship with TEC spans over 27 years and my active participation within the TEC of Central Texas since it’s inception in March of 2012 has been a true joy.
Encounters with Christ in many weekends over all those years have made a life-long positive impact. Christ walks along with each of us with a blessed life of great joys and tough challenges. With your active contributions, this TEC community will continue to be there for each of us to lean on and help us all grow in faith. Encourage others to experience TEC and get more involved to serve our community as a member of a ministry team, retreat team or member of leadership. Be a part of something special that goes beyond a three-day weekend.
I will transition this role to Joseph Pearson who has been prayerfully discerned by our Leadership Council to fulfill the responsibilities with a co-chair who will be announced soon. Each co-chair serves an alternating 2-year term and works under the direction of our Spiritual Director, Msgr. Elmer Holtman, Assistant Spiritual Director Fr. Barry Cuba and the TEC Conference. Thank you to the countless many that I have had the opportunity to work with for the past two years. See you in the Eucharist.
May God bless you and our TEC of Central Texas family,
Matt Moncada 2017-2018 TEC of Central TX Chair & Co-Chair
